Galen Augustine is an inspiring leader and the Vice President of Workforce Warriors, where he drives initiatives that empower Indigenous voices and integrate Indigenous knowledge into society’s growth. His lifelong dedication to uplifting Indigenous communities began in his home community of Natoaganeg First Nation, where he supported his father, Keptin Roger, in his work and as Regional AFN Chief. Galen’s commitment continued as he served as an elected council member, focusing on the well-being and growth of his people.
With over two decades of experience in public service, including corrections, Galen currently serves as Manager of Operations at Gitpo Spirit Lodge and a Council member of Natoaganeg First Nation. Throughout his career, he has seen the challenges Indigenous men face and is dedicated to closing the gap in services addressing their mental, physical, spiritual, and cultural needs. He believes that meeting these needs is essential for fostering a sense of belonging that individuals can carry with them throughout life.
Galen has also been instrumental in creating training and employment opportunities for Indigenous people and serves on an advisory board for an online university focused on mental health training for underrepresented populations. Recently, he embraced the role of Emergency Management Coordinator for his community, further demonstrating his commitment to their resilience and prosperity.
Through his work, Galen continues to inspire, empower, and create lasting change for Indigenous communities, building a brighter future for generations to come.
