Born and raised in Natoaganeg First Nation, Aiyana Augustine has always been deeply connected to her roots and committed to strengthening Indigenous communities. From an early age, she worked alongside her grandfather and father, contributing to the growth of Gitpo Spirit Lodge. This foundation shaped her passion for community-driven wellness, particularly for Indigenous youth. Over the past six years, Aiyana has dedicated herself to fostering well-being within Indigenous communities, with a strong focus on youth empowerment.
For the past two years, she has served as a Mental Wellness Projects Coordinator at the Wolastoqey Tribal Council Inc., tackling critical issues such as harm reduction, lateral violence, and mental health advocacy. Her work has been instrumental in creating safer, healthier spaces for Indigenous Peoples.
A lifelong learner and dedicated advocate, Aiyana earned her Bachelor of Arts in Psychology from the University of New Brunswick (UNB) in 2022. With her sights set on making an even greater impact, she is now pursuing a Master of Education in Counselling at UNB, equipping herself with the knowledge and skills to further support individuals navigating life’s challenges.
As the Workforce Warriors Wellness and Youth Innovation Lead, Aiyana is helping to shape a future where Indigenous youth thrive. She continues to guide Gitpo Spirit Lodge and Workforce Warriors on a transformative wellness journey, ensuring that Indigenous Peoples have access to psychologically safe spaces—whether in workforce development, economic empowerment, or personal growth.
Aiyana also serves as a Mentor and Facilitator for the Indigenous Career Pivot Program with the Ocean Supercluster, where she empowers Indigenous professionals to explore new opportunities and carve out meaningful career paths.
With her unwavering dedication, leadership, and heart for community, Aiyana is driving change, inspiring the next generation, and building a brighter future for Indigenous youth.
